Dev Log 4 (Oct 2 - Oct 8):

Overall progress:

  • Began drafting details of the in-game narrative.
  • Designed 5 new puzzles.

Art team:

  • Started modelling all assets and modular pieces.
  • Finished the character blockout.

Music team:

  • Started creating 6 sound effects.

Programming team:

  • Fixed bugs in pre-existing mechanic implementations.
  • Implemented new SFX. 
  • Added loading screens with narrative elements. 
  • Added zoomed-out camera view.
  • Implemented the 5 new puzzles and a pre-existing conveyor puzzle design.
  • Implemented pressure plate variant of switches.

Challenges:

  • Understanding audio implementation in Unity.
  • Aligning sound libraries.
  • Fixing intertwined bugs.
    • Implementing new puzzle ideas often revealed hidden bugs in the existing mechanic implementation. 
  • Coming up with puzzles given our current design constraints. 
    • Currently being worked around by allowing puzzle ideas that require minor alterations on existing mechanics and concretely deciding rules for movement-affecting mechanics.

Future plans:

  • Delivering new sound effects to the CS team for implementation, testing, and feedback.
  • Developing new skills in Unity to apply to our sound design.
  • Finalizing model designs and UVs.
  • Possibly adding new assets to the list.
