Week 5 Dev Log


Week 5 (Oct 9 - Oct 15):

Overall progress:

  • Began official playtesting and gathering feedback.
  • Improved pre-existing level designs.

Art team:

  • Started texturing assets.
  • Worked on a placeholder for the UI.
  • Created character model.
  • Rigged and animated the character.

Music team:

  • Completed basic sound design, focusing on sound effects.

Programming team:

  • Fixed various bugs.
  • Added control rebinding.
  • Added level select.
  • Began creating formal documentation of code.

Challenges:

  • Balancing volume balance.
  • Balancing time between other work and this project.
  • Unable to notice several bugs before playtesting.
    • Some bugs are hard to reproduce (and thus hard to solve) due to only occurring in builds or with specific instances of race conditions.

Future plans:

  • Improve audio balance by controlling peak/loudness.
  • Creating the actual level soundtrack.
  • Learning how to implement audio in Unity.
  • Polishing the assets and character for our game.
  • Implementing a hint system through puzzle-solving AI.
  • Implementing an undo system.
