Week 5 (Oct 9 - Oct 15):
Overall progress:
- Began official playtesting and gathering feedback.
- Improved pre-existing level designs.
Art team:
- Started texturing assets.
- Worked on a placeholder for the UI.
- Created character model.
- Rigged and animated the character.
Music team:
- Completed basic sound design, focusing on sound effects.
Programming team:
- Fixed various bugs.
- Added control rebinding.
- Added level select.
- Began creating formal documentation of code.
Challenges:
- Balancing volume balance.
- Balancing time between other work and this project.
- Unable to notice several bugs before playtesting.
- Some bugs are hard to reproduce (and thus hard to solve) due to only occurring in builds or with specific instances of race conditions.
Future plans:
- Improve audio balance by controlling peak/loudness.
- Creating the actual level soundtrack.
- Learning how to implement audio in Unity.
- Polishing the assets and character for our game.
- Implementing a hint system through puzzle-solving AI.
- Implementing an undo system.
